Pierre Dunoyer was born in Marseilles in 1949. After studying architecture and psychopathology, he began to paint in 1976. His paintings were presented during 1978 in the three exhibitions of the JaNaPa group.

Living between Paris and New York from 1979 to 1986, then permanently established in Paris from 1987, Pierre Dunoyer exhibited in various galleries, including: Sonnabend (Paris, 1979-80), Gillespie-Laage Salomon (Paris, 1982) , Nohra Haime (New York, 1985-87), Jeu de Paume (Paris, 1991), Palais des Congrès (Paris, 1998), Marc Blondeau Fine Art Services (Geneva, 2009), Farideh Cadot (Paris, 2012), Jean -Paul Najar Foundation (Dubai, 2017). He also participates in group exhibitions at the Villa Medici in Rome and the Tecla Sala in Barcelona, as well as in France at the Grand Palais and the National Museum of Modern Art. Dunoyer's paintings are part of the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra; the Mobilier National/Les Gobelins and the Fonds National d'Art Contemporain in Paris; of the Lille Fine Arts Museum.
