This book brings together more than two hundred photographs by Letizia Battaglia (Palermo, 1935-2022), taking us on a journey through her creative process and personal life, from her beginnings as a journalist in Milan in the early 1970s, followed by the tragic period of the Mafia wars that bloodied Palermo and Sicily in the 1970s and 1980s; her extraordinary portraits of children and Italian personalities of the time; her images of daily life in Sicily and different regions of the world.
Texts by Walter Guadagnini, Melissa Harris, Monica Poggi and Marta Sollima reveal the variety of Letizia Battaglia's interests and the coherence of her choices, evident both in her photographs and in her political and civic commitment.
