The author, Yves Le Fur is an art historian and General Curator of Heritage, specializing in the arts of Africa and Oceania, with a cross-disciplinary approach to anthropology and aesthetics. He is responsible for presenting the Oceania section of the permanent collection of the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac. In 1991, he curated the exhibitions "Résonances" at the Musée Dapper, "La mort n'en saura rien. Reliques d'Europe et d'Océanie" at the Musée national des arts d'Afrique et d'Océanie in 1999, and "D'un Regard l'Autre. Histoire des regards européens sur l'Afrique, l'Amérique et l'Océanie", the museum's inaugural exhibition, in 2006, "Cheveux chéris. Frivolités et trophées" in 2012, "Les Forêts natales" and "Picasso Primitif" in 2017, and finally "20 YEARS. Acquisitions of the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac" in 2019.
