> Exhibition catalogue Kriki - Hybrid, presented at the Centre d’art contemporain de la Matmut, Saint-Pierre-de-Varengeville (April - June 2018).
With his stencil technique, Kriki immediately became one of the pioneers of Parisian Street Art, echoing American graffiti artists. Then he invented Fuzz, half- robot, half-fetish, a kind of double identity who became a strong and inevitable marker throughout his work.
Kriki paints complex worlds where robotic beings and hybrid figures play enigmatic roles in confounded architectural combinations.
Over-manipulated images of masquerades, masked pompadours, organic creatures, hip-hop break dancers and connecting cables are grafted onto these unlikely and diverse forms.
From this hyper-connected style of painting emerges what the art critic Philippe Piguet calls “the possibility of the figurable.”
