Bonnard saw his report to animals as fundamental. Furry, feathered or scaly, this wildlife staking out its work in a near systematic manner. This tenderness peculiar to the address of the animals is found in about a third of 2 300 paintings by the master.
Ubu, Ravageau, Black, almond, are as many names of dogs that were the companions of Bonnard. Cats, on the other hand, have no known identity. They lived yet many his garden and his house, charmed by the peaceful atmosphere and endearing figure of the master of the House.
Beyond his pets, animals of all kinds held a very special place in emotional and pictorial of the painter environment and this all throughout his life. Bonnard makes the portrait, often intimate and sensitive of his companions of always and leaves no doubt as to the affection that he had them. He sees his report to essential animal, often placing them as key characters in his compositions.
His other representations of animals like horses, fish, chickens, cows will enrich this bestiary for the delight of the visitor, regardless of her age... Offering several possible reading levels, this exhibition is accessible to everyone.
