His works are particularly remarkable for the ease with which they have been integrated into public spaces in Europe, Asia and the United States, in urban centres and preserved natural sites.
Three emblematic works are on permanent display in France. Conversation à Nice (2007) comprises seven seated figures made from luminous resin, resembling the scribes of antiquity, sitting atop tall pillars dotted around place Masséna. Nomade (2010), dominating the Saint-Jaume Bastion in Antibes, is a monumental head, incorporating a mesh of steel letters, into which the visitor can actually enter. In Bordeaux’s place de la Comédie stands Sanna (2013), a seven-metre high female face made from cast iron.
The musée d’Art moderne in Céret presents the sculptor’s most recent works in a more intimate atmosphere: these include basalt and bronze female faces, whose closed eyes invite the viewers to explore their own interiority; silhouettes created by a metallic mesh of letters and symbols from around the world, which evoke the multiplicity of the potential offered by language; and a silent conversation between the luminous resin figures within a space that creates an ambiance of dreams and meditation.
