Little known to the general public, Pierre Lesieur (1922-2011) is one of the major painters of the second School of Paris: first a pupil of André Lhote at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, he then preferred, after the war, the freer training of the Montmartre academy.

Catalogue d'exposition Pierre Lesieur, Fenêtres et ouvertures, présentée au Musée de l’Abbaye de Saint-Claude, Haut Jura (19 juin - 18 octobre 2015).
Lesieur builds his own universe nourished by his passion for music, his taste for travel, objects found around the world, to which he gives new life in his paintings: his work tells the close link with the objects and landscapes that surround him, his various workshops as well as his multiple living quarters. Few figures are to be seen in his painting, if not that of Michelle, his wife.
Very present in the collections of the Musée de l'Abbaye de Sainte-Claude, Lesieur's work is highlighted thanks to this exhibition devoted to one of the themes most explored by the artist since the end of the 1950s, the window , which is also an essential subject in the history of painting since the Renaissance.
Designed to carefully accompany the visitor through the tour of the paintings, notebooks and drawings chosen for the occasion, this work represents a true tribute to the painter and to this unchanging theme in the history of art.
