Exhibition catalogue Jean Dewasne, Constructed Color, from Antisculpture to Architecture, presented at the musée départemental Matisse, Le Cateau-Cambrésis ( 22 march - 9 june 2014),  at the musée de Cambrai (26 june - 26 september 2014) and  at the LAAC, musée de Dunkerque (11 october 2014 - 15 feb. 2015).

Dewasne conceived a powerfully modern oeuvre, where fine art, architecture, music, mathematics, urbanism, and industry meet.

All his life, he privileged dynamic geometrical forms and bright colors in flat tints, arranged according to complex rhythms without any references to reality or illusion of depth.

An innovator, he transformed car chassis—manufactured skeletons—to experiment his Antisculptures. Dewasne’s art is characterized by his abandon of oil paint for technical and industrial materials that underlie his search for a new visual language.

He attained the summit of his art with the competitions for the four murals for the Grande Arche de la Défense, the Rome and Hanover subways, and the conception of the colors of the Centre Pompidou, which he described as his largest Antisculpture.
