Catalogue de l'exposition "Portraits dans la Collection Simonow" présentée à l'Abbaye de Flaran, Centre patrimonial départemental de Valence-sur-Baïse (3 juillet - 31 décembre 2010).
This ancient abbey is the backdrop for the portraits from this collection : flfty-eight paintings, drawings and sculptures which provide a cross-section of the great artistic movements of Europe from the 16th to the 21st centuries.
A drawing in black chalk of the emperor Vitellius by Rubens, an oil painting by Cézanne in honour of the collector Victor Choquet, a sketch in charcoal and gouache by Picasso, one of the rare bronze busts of Victor Hugo by Rodin : these major works, still not widely known, will be a marvellous discovery for visitors to one of the great sites of the Midi-Pyrénées region.
