Pierrette Bloch (1928-2017) is one of the most renowned European artists of post-war abstraction. Independent throughout her career, she has turned to poor materials and reduced motifs that she organises between order and disorder.

Catalogue of the exhibition Pierrette Bloch. Painting by other means, presented at the Musée MAMC+ in Saint-Étienne (19 April - 21 September 2025).
Pierrette Bloch's work lies at the convergence of a multitude of singular itineraries, using painting, collage and weaving over the years, and in which questions of freedom of expression and abstraction are omnipresent.
This book, which retraces seventy years of her practice, is the first monographic work dedicated to the artist, in which we find all her characteristic gravity and humour. It gives pride of place to reproductions of the hundred or so works presented to the public in the exhibition (painting, collage, marouflage, pen and horsehair painting, etc.), but it also sheds original light on the life and work of Pierrette Bloch through the eyes of six authors.
