Exhibition Catalogue Max Jacob - Poetic Cubism, presented at Musée d'Art moderne de Céret (15 june - 1st december 2024).
Jacob's kaleidoscopic personality led him to become one of the emblematic figures of early 20th-century modernism. This book highlights the singularity and importance of his work in the Cubist galaxy, from his artictic affinities and collaborations to his time in Catalonia.
Some hundred works by Jacob himself, as well as by such contemporaries as Juan Gris, Marie Laurencin, Moïse Kisling, Jean Metzinger, Serge Férat, the Baronne d'Oettingen, Louis Marcoussis and Alice Halicka reveal the diverse facets of his art, both literary and visual.
« Art is a game. Nevermind those who make a duty of it ! » Max Jacob
