Catalogue of the exhibition Barthélémy Toguo - Kingdom of faith, presented at the Center d'art La Malmaison, Cannes (July 26 - November 14, 2021).

His artistic apprenticeship began with making copies of classical European sculptures, until his participation in a wood sculpture workshop in 1992 allowed him to radically modify his work. He then decides to continue his studies in France, in order to learn a different type of education, and to be more free in his personal research. He studied at the Grenoble Higher Art School and then enrolled in Klaus Rinke's studio at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. The artist began to use watercolor in 1998; this work, born of his multiple trips and experiences, thus creates a kind of logbook, travel diary. He made several series.

Barthélémy Toguo's work also has a political dimension. He is interested in the flows, of goods but also of human beings, as well as those who regulate these flows. Barthélémy Toguo is also interested in the presence of art in Africa, and in particular in Cameroon. Recently, the artist has turned to the field of theater and staging of space.
