Exhibition catalogue "Franco Albini" shown at the Galerie du Passage, Paris (5 avril - 7 mai 2011).
The book presents the work of the italian designer and architect Franco Albini : book cases, tables, maps, chairs and drawings, sketches and models".
The aim is lightness, the object dematerialization, the lightening of the structure, in a challenge to sustainability joining together technical rigour and poetic fancy. Albini matches ancient and modern furniture, creates rooms where objects share a common dialogue while being autonomous and “protagonists” at the same time. The design objects become architecture tools, functional to the
division of spaces.
Some of the objects evoke imaginary worlds with their zoomorphic shape, others are spasmodically searching for the best shape to welcome the whole surface of the human body as if it “were fl oating in a liquid”, others still are made with poor materials, such as Malacca cane, to give beauty to all." Introduction by Marco and Paola Albini.
