Each sporting “activity” is approached from a heritage and historical perspective, re-locating the practice of sport in Paris. Places related to the sports garment trade, department stores, equipment manufacturers or dressers who have worked in this field – such as Jean Patou who opens Le Coin du Sport in his Parisian shop – will also be highlighted. A real journey in Parisian time and space to understand how Parisian women and Parisians, since the 18th ecentury, have dressed themselves to do sports.
This book is published on the occasion of the 2nd session of the exhibition "Mode in motion" which presents part of the collections of the Palais Galliera.
