Born in 1938 in Valence (South of France), Pierre Boncompain is today recognized as a master of contemporary painting, heir to the colourist tradition. The charm of Provence flows through his paintings, pastels and all other forms of his work. His favorite themes are relatively simple: nudes, still lifes and landscapes, but, through a permanent research on the intensity of the colors, the expressiveness of the lines, the flat surfaces, he transcends the everyday to offer us an eminently attractive of life.
For more than fifty years, he has exhibited in Europe, Asia, the United States, and of course throughout France. His works are part of numerous public and private collections.
After presenting Boncompain's ceramics, his sketches and his illustration of the Cantique des cantiques, this book is a tribute to his painting. Fair and strong, we find his favorite colors: blue, ocher, yellow ... We sense a completed work, matured by time and certainties. The Conquest of a Still World, preface by Michel Déon.
With 123 reproductions, in color (oil on canvas, pastel)
