"Enki Bilal's vision is realistic and fantastic, pessimistic and terrible, deeply marked by history and with rarely expressed force. The connections in the exhibition with examples from all eras will bear witness to these same concerns: monstrosity in Hieronymus Bosch and Joel-Peter Witkin, horror of war in Jacques Callot and Francisco de Goya, fantastic in Gustave Doré and Alfred Kubin, the machinery of Man Ray and Lewis Hine, the hybridization of Orlan and Tony Oursler. There is also more than one connection between the work of Enki Bilal and that of Francis Bacon. At the same time, extracts from films by Fritz Lang, Ridley Scott, and David Cronenberg will be screened.
From "Enki Bilal", an epic in history where everything is connected, the past, the present and the future. " Serge Lemoine, Chief Exhibition Commissioner
