Foujita is one of the key players at the Ecole de Paris. It was in Reims, in 1959, at the Cathedral of Reims that he received his baptismal name: Léonard. He then had a chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix erected in the City of Coronations, where his body now rests next to that of his wife Kimiyo.
In 2013 and 2014, the latter's heirs donated to the museum more than 2,200 works and documents from the painter's studio. This catalog is the first step in the promotion of this exceptional donation, a tribute to the artist and to the donors.
